LB Rob Ninkovich Signs Two-Year Extension

Before Monday night’s season-opening win over the Miami Dolphins, Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich signed a two-year, $4 million contract extension, a league source confirmed. This isn’t the first time the Patriots have signed Ninkovich to an under-the-radar, two-year extension.

In November of 2009, Ninkovich signed a two-year, $1.714 million contract extension that included a $350,000 signing bonus and base salaries of $650,000 in each season of the extension (2010-11). In his new deal, his scheduled $685,000 base salary (which had increased by $35,000 via the new collective bargaining agreement) remains, with the Ninkovich receiving a $2 million signing bonus and $900,000 base salaries in 2012 and 2013.

Ninkovich can also earn $100,000 workout bonuses in 2012 and 2013, and there are undisclosed base salary escalators in 2013.
