The Redskins won using all facets of the game last week against the New York Giants. The positive feelings have spread rapidly through Washington and have given Skins fans hope for the remainder of the season. Lost in translation however, is the supposedly confident kicker that Washington relies on. Graham Gano, who won the preseason kicking competition, once again missed a makeable kick in the home opener. A year removed from being statistically the worst kicker in the NFL, Gano offered a glimpse of his potential in the preseason making all 8 of his kicks. With his solid preseason and a poor showing from Shayne Graham, Gano was granted another opportunity. Well, after missing a dead on 39 yarder, Gano again finds himself in Shanahan’s doghouse. Was it just me or did you all see the look of frustration in Shanny’s face? With the new kickoff rules this season, the strong legged Gano no longer is as valuable of an asset on kickoffs. Most kickers in the NFL can get the ball deep into the end-zone making Gano’s leg strength less important. A few more missed kicks by Gano and Washington’s rotating door of kickers may be in motion again. Gano claims to be confident, but how confident is he really? Losing Shanahan’s confidence surely will have him out of a job. What do you guys think? Should he stay or go?
