In a span of 48 hours, the Dolphins lost to the Patriots, in large part because of their lack of defense, then released a big part of the problem, Benny Sapp, and then finally bringing back recently released corner Will Allen. A lot can happen when you lose by double digits I guess!
Allen was rumored to be released on the last day of roster cuts before the start of the season because of his guaranteed $1.5 million salary that he would be due if he made the Opening Day roster.
But if the Dolphins were really worried about money, then why release Sapp now, when they will owe him his guaranteed $1.9 million salary regardless of if he plays in Miami or not? Why release Allen because of monetary concerns, then do the exact opposite the next week, and then replace him eighths player you spurned? This is all something that has become somewhat of a pattern with the Miami front office.
Allen will also be wearing a new number, as rookie cornerback Jimmy Wilson has taken Allen’s old number; #25.
