Alternately titled “Thank God for Cadillac Williams”. The Rams finally addressed their less than stellar performance at backup running back this offseason and it took only two plays for that depth to be tested. And Cadillac Williams showed up strong against the Philadelphia Eagles and should get a start for injured Steven Jackson this Monday night against the New York Giants.
No offense intended to Keith Toston, or Antonio Pittman or any of the other backup runners the Rams have had in previous seasons, but Cadillac Williams has shown in the past that he can start in the NFL for a few games and showed in week 1 that he is ready to fill in at a moment’s notice.
Williams is the best back up running back the Rams have had since Steven Jackson was backing up Marshall Faulk. And the Rams already have needed him. It was a smart move by the Rams to finally get a back up runner and so far (in preseason and week 1) Cadillac has impressed.
