Seattle Seahawks Sign Former Vandal Williams, Release Two

Typical roster shuffle and expected given the injury to fullback Michael Robinson (surprised?), who was the only active fullback on the roster.

In is fullback and former Idaho Vandal Eddie Williams, a former seventh round draft choice of the Washington Redskins from 2009.

Not to diss my next door neighbor, but this is somebody who is going to get thrown into the fire against a ticked off “Piss”burgh that just got whupped 35-7 by the Ravens. He has spent three games as an inactive for the Redskins and the rest of his NFL career on the practice squads of the Redskins, Bears, and Browns and is now the only active fullback on the roster.

Somewhere Mike Karney is probably sitting on his couch when he should be flying home to Seattle giving his team a proven lead blocker.

Also signed to the practice squad was tight end Fendi Onobun; who I actually knew about before writing this. If you’re into Madden, get this guy at the end of your fantasy drafts; he progresses a lot and he has 85 speed.

The casualties of these moves were TE Dominique Byrd and OG Brent Osbourne.

In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s Williams in the picture playing wide receiver. He posted some impressive stats and that’s great for his versatility, but is it going to translate into the blocking the Seahawks need?

I guess we’ll find out.
