Browns Add Two to Cleveland Browns Legends

In 2001 the Browns started their version of a Hall of Fame by inducting Hall of Famers, Ray Renfro, Gene Hickerson, Greg Pruitt, Bernie Kosar, Michael Dean Perry into the ‘Cleveland Browns Legends’.

The team announced today that they’ll be adding two more players to the list – Linebacker Vince Costello (1957-66) and Center Tom DeLeone (1974-84).

Costello finished his career with the New York Giants, but will forever be remembered as a Cleveland Brown. In his first year with the team, Costello helped lead the team to the ’57 Championship Game. In ’64, he was part of a Browns team that won the NFL Championship. During his career with the Browns, Costello recorded 18 interceptions and tied for the team lead with 7 in ’63. Of his 146 career games, Costello appeared in 130 with the Cleveland Browns.

After playing the first two years of his career with the other team from Ohio (Bengals), DeLeone played the next 10 years with the Browns. During his 149 career regular season games, he blocked for six 1,000 yard rushers and was part of an offensive line that helped QB Brian Sipe lead the NFL in passing in 1980 with 4,132 yards. DeLeone was selected to the 1980 and ’81 Pro Bowls and helped the team to playoff appearances in ’80 and ’82. He also won the 1980 AFC Central Divisional Title.

DeLeone and Costello will join a long list of former Cleveland Browns as Cleveand Browns Legends.
