Halftime in Cleveland, Browns lead Bengals 14-13

After a horrible start to the game, and NFL season, the Browns seemed to have found their rhythm on both offense and defense.

While the Bengals offense was busy displaying finesse on offense in the 1st Qtr., the Browns, as a team, were busy showing rust. So far in the game, the Browns have committed 10 penalties for 67 yards, most have been along the offensive line.

The 2nd Qtr has been much better for the Browns on both offense and defense. Although the Browns have punted early and often, they’ve scored 14 unanswered points on the Bengals Defense. With a 14-13 lead over the Bengals, the Browns certainly need to make some halftime adjustments.

Here’s a few things to work on…

– Get Peyton Hillis involved more, they’ve run the ball with some success against the Bengals. They need to do it more.

– Montario Hardesty needs a few more carries. When he’s run the ball, he’s done so with success. His knee doesn’t appear to be an issue.

– Let Colt McCoy take a few more shots down field. On McCoy’s two deep passes to TE Ben Watson and WR Mohammed Massaquoi, the team was able to score. (34-yard TD to Watson, 56-yard completion for MoMass, led to a 2-yard TD catch for TE Evan Moore)

– Get more pressure on Bengals QB, Andy Dalton. In the 1st Qtr., the Browns defensive pressure was non-existent and the Bengals came away with a 10-0 lead after one quarter of play. In the 2nd Qtr., however, the Browns ability to pressure the young rookie led to a 14-3 advantage for the Browns and a 14-13 lead at the half.
