Bills Finish 1st Quarter up 14-0 on Chiefs

You could not have scripted a better start to the 2011 season if you’re the Bills.

They start the game off with a takeaway on the opening kickoff.  A pair of rookies getting their first taste of NFL action.  Linebacker Chris White causes a fumble that was recovered by another rookie linebacker, Kelvin Sheppard.  The Bills scored on the ensuing possession a 5-play 26-yard drive capped off with a four-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to TE Scott Chandler to put the Bills up 7-0.

Near the end of the first quarter, the Bills struck again.  A 35-yard reception by David Nelson followed by a 27-yard touchdown pass from Fitzpatrick to Steve Johnson gave Buffalo a 14-0 lead and that’s how we would end the first quarter.

*  Fitzpatrick went 5-for-9 for 80 yards and 2 TDs

*  CB Terrence McGee left the game with a hamstring injury and is OUT for the rest of the game

*  LB Shawne Merriman suffered an apparent arm injury.  He went to the locker and returned to the sidelines, but has not been back on the field.
