The Vikings have come to terms with standout running back Adrian Peterson on a seven-year contract extension.
Pro Football Talk reports the new deal is worth $100 million and $36 million in guaranteed cash.
“Today is an incredible day,” Peterson said. “Minnesota’s where I want to be and I’m excited to continue playing for you.”
The former Sooner legend has exceeded Titans premiere RB Chris Johnson ($30 million guaranteed) in promised paper as the league’s top-paid back.
In four NFL seasons, “All Day” has tallied more than 5,700 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns. The Oklahoma product has been selected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro squad every season since being drafted seventh overall in the 2007 draft.
The powerful Peterson owns the league’s all-time single-game rushing record, having amassed 296 yards against the Chargers in his eighth career NFL game.
