Panthers strong safety Charles Godfrey signed a five-year, $27.5 million contact extension with the club Friday night according to Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette.
The deal headlines $12.4 million in guaranteed Benjamins, according to his agent Doug Hendrickson.
“He’s on top of the world and he’s thrilled because this is what he wanted,” Hendrickson said. “He really loves the new defense and the staff and everything about the organization. They stepped up big time.”
Last season, the 2008 third-round draft pick from Iowa generated 84 tackles (70 solo) and five interceptions.
