WR Braylon Edwards’ Vaule Continues to Go Down; Rumors of a Fight at a Bar Doesn’t Help

Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network reports that Braylon Edwards may have to settle for a “one-year, prove-it ” deal on the open market.

Edwards has vastly overestimated his value. No team is going to give a long-term deal to a player considered to be a “diva” and who has off-the-field issues.

You REALLY must be a diva if you have that reputation among the colorful and unusual characters in the Jets locker room. Plus one more off-the-field incident will likely result in a lengthy suspension from Commissioner Goodell.

One Monday report from a Phoenix radio station claimed Edwards “lowered” his demands to $25 million over five seasons — the Steve Breaston range — but Braylon won’t even get that. Look for Braylon to settle for an incentive-laden contract.

Now there’s the rumor that Edwards is alleged to have been on hand at South Bar in Michigan when two members of his entourage got in a scuffle with employees.

According to a report on myFOXdetroit.com, The two individuals were arrested and one club staffer was reportedly cut with a kitchen knife, requiring 14 stitches.

Birmingham police apparently had no interaction with Edwards, however, a couple tweets trickled out of Edwards’ Twitter account around the time of the incident that indicate the wide receiver may have been near the incident.

Edwards reportedly tweeted “Dam. Get ya knuckles ready” and then “Don’t fight if. You don’t know how.” Naturally Edwards deleted the tweets soon after and followed up with the old “my account got hacked” excuse.

This isn’t anything new, as this is the same guy who got into it with former Cleveland Cavaliers and current Miami Heat NBA star LeBron James at a bar near Downtown Cleveland.
