Titans Continue Camp Without Chris Johnson; Teammates Support the RB

A couple of teammates for holdout running back Chris Johnson are staying in the backs corner, saying that he’s worth a whole lot more than the money that he’s due to make in 2011.

“He is doing what he needs to do. If I was in his shoes I’d be doing the same thing,” said guard Jake Scott. “He is the best at the position he plays. I am not going to say he deserves to be the highest-paid player in the NFL, but he deserves to get paid accordingly. The organization and his agent, they can settle what that is. But obviously $800,000 is not it.”

Johnson missed the third straight day of camp on Sunday, opting to stay in Orlando, Florida than join his teammates at camp.

“He definitely deserves to get paid,” WR Nate Washington said. “He is not only one of the top running backs in this league, he is one of the top players in this league across the board. He has earned it, and he deserves whatever they give him. He has worked hard. But that is between him and his agent and management to get handled. Hopefully they can get it worked out so he can get back in here, because we need him.”

Bottom line, a deal needs to get done with Johnson, and one will get done sooner than later, as the Titans are not nearly the same team without him.
