Wilson Could be Next Priority for Ravens in Free Agency

Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun has Cornerback Josh Wilson ranked as the Ravens next priority now that Marshal Yanda is in purple for the next five seasons. Where’s my pass rusher?

So far it looks as if the Ravens will attempt to keep as many of their own  as they can and may not make the huge splash that some are reporting like targeting Oakland’s Nnamdi Asomugha. The cap is still going to make things tricky for Baltimore keeping many of the players on his list. In fact I’ve read more possible movement among most of those named and not much in the way of who the Ravens may covet from the open market.

Here are my thoughts on the top players listed.

1) Josh Wilson – His youth (26) gives him the advantage over Chris Carr and the team did get him for next to nothing a year ago. Yes, I know I picked Carr by nose a few posts ago but that doesn’t mean I’d be upset if they went with the former Terp either.

2) Chris Carr – I’ve mentioned before what Carr brings to the table. He’s a steady calming influence on the back line. Carr also has stated that he wants a starting job and the Ravens can’t guarantee that. There is early buzz that the Lions may have interest in Carr.

3) Marc Bulger – There’s alot of rumor surrounding him right now. But can the Ravens justify finding 3 million dollars in cap space for an insurance policy? It looks like the Vikings and Cardinals  supposedly have their eyes on him. I have a feeling though that he’s just being used as leverage. I think he’s strictly a back-up in this league now and I think he’ll be back at a reduced rate.
