South Beach Cash In?
The Miami Dolphins are one of a slew of clubs currently chatting money with Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton, who is expected to be dealt soon according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
According to a team source, Orton is the top priority of GM Jeff Ireland and he’d like to acquire the former Boilermaker. However, another source said the former Purdue standout, who is scheduled for $9 million in 2011, is eyeing a long-term deal that will issue him better than $6 million per season.
As of now, the Arizona Cardinals are the Dolphins main competition for the shaggy-haired pigskin thrower.
The Miami Herald has said that the team has offered a third round pick for Orton – with a belief they have upped the ante for the bearded signal caller. It’s apparent the Dolphins covet Orton, to no surprise, seeing that Chad Henne is their starting tosser at the moment.
