Whenever transactions eventually commence it appears the Seahawks are ready to step up and make Kevin Kolb their long term franchise quarterback.
According to Dave Mahler, the Seahawks have offered a first and third round pick for Kolb:
“Heard from a source Seahawks have offered Eagles 1st and 3rd for Kolb”
This should not come as a surprise if it proves to be true, the Seahawks need a long term solution at quarterback and it could be argued he is a better option at this moment then any rookie drafted.
The price may seem steep, but think about it, it’s no different then a team moving up from say, No. 25 to No. 21 overall to draft a rookie quarterback and having to fork over a third round pick in the process.
They may not even be the best offer, who knows? Maybe someone offered a first and a second.
Pete Carroll would be making a bold move acquiring Kolb for a price similar to what the Texans payed for Matt Schaub. Essentially, he is banking on him developing into a Schaub, who has developed into a top ten quarterback in the league.
Whether he can do that or not, that’s another story.
