“I think that we’ll be playing football at some point, it’s just a matter of when,” Gould told ESPN 1000 Chicago on Saturday. “Once they get a settlement finished, it’s going to take some time to get all the free agents signed, all the rookies signed, all the rookie free agents and get those plans put in place to either get into training camp and/or revise the schedule enough so that you can get ready for the regular season in time.”
Later on Saturday, Gould discussed the labor situation after singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” at Wrigley Field.
“We are going to play football; we really are,” said Gould. “And if we miss a season, it’s really unfortunate. I think at the end of the day, when you get a group of people in the room working like they are working to get a deal done, a settlement will be reached and we will be playing football.
“It’s just as to what date we’re going to be back and when.”
