Vikings Not Interested in WR Plaxico Burress

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress is not on the Vikings’ radar screen.

Burress, who turns 34 in August, was released from upstate New York prison on Monday and is expected to resume an NFL career that has included 505 receptions for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns in stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants from 2000-08.

Burress helped the Giants to win over the New England Patriots in Super XLII, catching a 13-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning with 35 seconds remaining.

The Vikings have Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, and Greg Camarillo under contract for next season. However, 2009 Pro Bowler Sidney Rice’s status is up in the air. If the league and players reach a new collective bargaining agreement, the former second-round pick out of South Carolina could hit unrestricted free agency.

Rice and Burress are both represented by Drew Rosenhaus.
