Lions Coach Jim Schwartz Keeping Track of Matthew Stafford’s Progress

Lions coach hasn’t spoken to quarterback Matthew Stafford about his rehab from right shoulder surgery becasue of the NFL lockout restrictions but he has been monitoring it.

“Our trainers have talked to Dr. (James) Andrews and the people who have been doing his rehab,” Schwartz told Brian VanOchten of the Grand Rapids Press during a promotional appearance this week. “We felt really strongly even before the surgery where his rehab was going to go and how he was going to bounce back from it. We’ve been able to get weekly, even daily, reports back about that.”

“It didn’t take seeing him throwing with his teammates (in unsupervised workouts during the NFL lockout) to know where he was in his rehab,” he added. “We had a very good idea even before that.”

Schwartz indiciated he is pleased reports on Stafford’s progress.

“It wasn’t a real complicated procedure and it wasn’t a real complicated rehab. I think Matt knew what it’s going to take him to get ready,” he said, “so I think we all feel pretty confident about that.”?
