Saints RB Bush Gets Backlash Over Tweets Sent Out About Lockout

Saints running back Reggie Bush set off a frenzy of fan backlash with a couple of tweets on Monday evening that seemed to undermine the players’ position in the lockout.

Bush had already drawn criticism for his public frustration following the team’s drafting of fellow Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram last month. The new tweets certainly won’t help his image.

The first tweet: “Everybody complaining about the lockout! Shoot I’m making the most of it! Vacation, rest, relaxing, appearances here and there! I’m good!” Minutes later Bush added, “Right about now we would be slaving in 100 degree heat, practicing twice a day, while putting our bodies at risk for nothing.”

After angry responses from many of his 1.6 million Twitter followers, Bush tweeted, “FYI last tweet was a joke! Relax people damn it’s called sense of humor! Cry me a river why don’t you…” It is doubtful that many of his fans, who are likely struggling to put food on the table and keep their jobs, see anything funny is Bush’s sense of humor.
