Ravens linebacker Sergio Kindle entered a plea of guilty to Driving Under the Influence Tuesday. Kindle was sentenced to five days time served in treatment, one year in jail suspended, and was placed on two years of unsupervised probation by the court, because this is Kindle’s second drunk driving conviction, the prosecuting attorney recommended he serve 30 days in jail.
The sentencing judge rejected that recommendation, citing Kindle’s participation and progress in substance abuse treatment, per the sentencing, Kindle must continue his participation in treatment and abstain from alcohol.
Considering his history, Kindle may gain the dubious distinction of being one of the only players to serve a suspension for violating the league’s Substance Abuse Policy before he ever plays his first NFL game.
