7 Round Minnesota Mock, 4.27.11

1st Round, pick 20: Danny Watkins, OL, Baylor (Tampa Bay trades to take Prince Amukamara, since they are going to cut Aqib Talib; Combine workout)
2nd round, pick 44: Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
3rd round, pick 84: Robert Sands, FS, West Virginia (via trade with Tampa Bay; highlights)
4th round, pick 106: Greg Romeus, DE, Pittsburgh (would start season on PUP list, but is at least 2nd round talent in the 4th; highlights)
5th round, pick 139: Aldrick Robinson, WR, SMU (NFL Films’ Greg Cosell likes this guy a lot)
5th round, pick 150: Sealver Sileage, DT, Utah
6th round, pick 172: Chris Harris, CB, Kansas
6th round, pick 200: Zach Pianalto, TE, North Carolina
7th round, pick 215: Niles Brinkley, CB, Wisconsin
7th round, pick 236: Dan Bailey, K, Oklahoma St.

I would only do this if I had the swagger to get a legitimate quarterback (my order is: Marc Bulger, Kevin Kolb, Matt Hasselbeck, and Donovan McNabb), sign Terrell Owens cheap, sign Ochocinco cheap if he’s cut, maybe pick up all-time NCAA receiving leader David Ball from the arena league.

  1. Andy Sorensen says:

NO! NO! NO! With all the good quarterback prospects available to the Vikes in the first round, you do NOT pass up the opportunity. Out of the three QB’s that would be available when the Vikes draft (Locker, Dalton, and Ponder), I find Locker to be too inconsistent, Ponder would be a reach, which would leave Dalton as the man to go with.
