Juicy Three-Team Race for Locker’s services: Washington, Minnesota, New England?
This Husky is my 2nd rated QB behind Auburn’s Cam Newton. If I’m Washington, I don’t pass up Locker. Do so, and Minnesota scoops up Jake at #12.
- Talk is heating about Jake Locker and the Washington Redskins at 10. Could Shanahan take his next Jake Plummer/Jay Cutler clone? Locker’s athleticism resembles that of the two former Bronco tossers, whom Shanny possessed during his run in the Mile High City. A former NFL executive says Locker’s a fit in the Nation’s Capital.
- Indianapolis throws out a defense similar to the style of Chicago. The Colts defensive line could use a boost. An upgrade may be theirs for the taking once free agency gets underway. How about Tommie Harris? It would be a seamless transition; looks like a deal is in the making. A lock, you say? Could this plan to bring Harris to Indy a sure thing?
- Every expert seems to link the Bears to an offensive lineman with their first round pick. At 29, many so-called pundits and gurus have the Windy City addressing Jay Cutler’s protection over the defensive line. Not exactly, according to one former NFL GM. The respectable voice believes a defensive tackle would be a better route to travel in the 1st round if you’re looking for quality, along with need. Could you get a solid OL in the 2nd round, as opposed to a legit DT in round two? Guys like Marvin Austin (UNC) and Drake Nevis (LSU) could be had with Chicago’s second choice, the 62nd selection in the draft.
