Jets to Place RT Damien Woody on Injured Reserve

The Jets suffered a big blow Wednesday, as the team announced that right tackle Damien Woody will be placed on season-ending injured reserve with an Achilles’ tendon injury.

Coach Rex Ryan disclosed the injury, stating that Woody played though the injury in the win over the Colts. He missed the previous three weeks with a knee injury, and Ryan said the Achilles’ injury is in the other leg.

Jets players who sat out Wednesday’s practice included guard Brandon Moore (back) and wide receivers Brad Smith (groin) and Patrick Turner (illness). Quarterback Mark Sanchez (shoulder), cornerback Antonio Cromartie (groin), wide receiver Santonio Holmes (quad), cornerback Darrelle Revis (hamstring), center Nick Mangold (shoulder), fullback Tony Richardson (finger) and linebacker Bryan Thomas (ankle) were limited.
