Chiefs Coach Haley May Call the Plays on Offense; He’d Better Get it Right

Todd Haley hasn’t had much success with offensive coordinators, therefore the latest is that the coach himself may call the plays next season for the club.
The coach fired Chan Gailey before he could even get started, and former pal Charlie Weis is leaving town to call plays for Florida.

Weis was offensive coordinator this season and had a big hand in helping the Chiefs make a six-game improvement and win their first AFC West title since 2003.

Haley said he intends to hire a new offensive coordinator. But he did not rule out calling plays himself next season. A former offensive coordinator with the Cardinals, Haley called plays as the head coach his first year in Kansas City in 2009.

There was talk about Mike McCoy, who is the OC in Denver, and is described as a passive type of coach, a guy that Haley could control. Whatever the case may be, it’s time Haley and the Chiefs get this OC thing right. For the sake of the team.
