Seattle, St. Louis to Play on NBC’s National Stage this Sunday

Despite Seattle’s 38-15 loss Sunday’s in Tampa Bay, the team’s third straight and fifth in the last six games, the Seahawks got a holiday season present.

According to the National Football League, the Seahawks’ Week Seventeen home game against the St. Louis Rams will be played during the league’s national Sunday night game slot on NBC at 8:20 p.m. Eastern.

Originally, the game was scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. Eastern kick off, but was selected for the change because of the game’s playoff importance. A St. Louis win gives the Rams (7-8) the NFC West division championship and its corresponding playoff spot. A win by Seattle (6-9) will give the Seahawks the division and entry to the playoffs thanks to a tiebreaker.

The Seahawks, Rams move to NBC’s Sunday Night Football wasn’t the only game that shuffled. According to the league:

…the Jacksonville at Houston and Tennessee at Indianapolis games will move to 4:15 PM ET on CBS and the Chicago at Green Bay, Dallas at Philadelphia and New York Giants at Washington games will move to 4:15 PM ET on FOX…

The last time Seattle played on national television was in 2008 when the Seahawks played on Thanksgiving in Dallas against the Cowboys.
