Favre to Shut It Down for the Rest of 2010?

On a night in which the Vikings, as a team, appeared to shut it down four games early, it is no surprise that Brett Favre is now thought to be possibly considering doing the same.

Ed Werder, somewhat of a confidant of Favre’s, says that it is “possible/likely” that the Vikings are going to put Favre on injured reserve.

The move would be a sad way to end a legendary career, but makes sense considering that the Vikings now have no playoff hopes and putting the 41 year old behind a leaky and battered offensive line for twelve more quarters would feel inappropriate.

Favre’s consecutive starts streak ended at 297 games on Monday, and now the speculation is flying that his career ended with it.
