The injury that knocked Brett Favre out of last Sunday’s win over the Bills in just a few plays may keep him out of the lineup Sunday when the Vikings try to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Giants. The quarterback hopes to make a decision by Friday on if he will play or not.
Favre did not practice Wednesday as the Vikings started preparing for the Giants. He sprained the SC joint in his right shoulder on a crushing hit by Bills linebacker Arthur Moats last week and missed most of the game.
If Favre cannot play, his NFL record for consecutive starts would end at 297 regular season games. Favre says he isn’t concerned about keeping the streak intact. He says “the most important streak right now is we’ve won two in a row.” Interim coach Leslie Frazier says the streak will not factor into the decision.
