Lions fans were warned by Jim Schwartz that Alphonso Smith’s injury was “long term,” so it comes as no surprise that he ended up on the IR due to his dislocated shoulder. Kyle Vanden Bosch’s move to the IR was not as widely expected.
Vanden Bosch suffered a neck injury that is being described as a bulging disk that needs to be surgically corrected. KVB will have the surgery soon and hopefully this will not be a career-threatening or shortening injury.
The Lions signed CB Prince Miller from the Ravens’ practice squad to replace Smith. There has not been a roster move announced for the opening created by moving Vanden Bosch to IR.
Look for the Lions to use Lawrence Jackson and Turk McBride in rotation to replace KVB, but don’t forget that preseason favorite Willie Young is on the roster and could get some playing time as well.
