Getting “Thiggy” Wit It”
According to sports insider Josina Anderson, the Dolphins have already contacted the camp of disappointing former 1st round pick JaMarcus Russell.
Breaking: Sources: The Miami Dolphins have contacted JaMarcus Russell’s camp to try and schedule a workout
Anderson says that the Dolphins are trying to schedule a workout for Russell to come in and back up Tyler Thigpen, who will be starting under center for the team Thursday night in South Beach against the 6-3 NFC North-leading Chicago Bears.
According to sources close to Omar Kelly and in the know about the quarterback injuries that both Chad Pennington and Chad Henne suffered during the game today, both of our top two quarterbacks will likely be lost for the season.
Despite what Kelly’s source said, Chad Henne said that he will have to wait and see what the MRI says tonight before he rules himself out of Thursdays game.
“I have to get an MRI at 6:30 and we’ll see what happens from there. It doesn’t feel good. But for me, if I can stand and I can run on it, I’m going to be playing. So whatever happens, we’ll see.”
“It didn’t feel good enough to come back. But I’m not going to be one to baby my knee. If I can be in there, I’ll be in there.”
Pennington will most likely be out for the season, with his fourth shoulder injury in his career. Sadly, this could be the end of the road for Pennington as well. Henne’s career will not be ended by this injury, but his season very well could be.
The news of the quarterback situation will probably be revealed at Head Coach Tony Sparano’s press conference tomorrow, so we will all know more then. But for now I am assuming the worst, that both Pennington and Henne are out for the remainder of the season, and we will be seeing whether or not Thigpen can be the long-term answer for our team.
According to Peter King, Miami Dolphins left tackle, and franchise cornerstone Jake Long suffered a dislocated shoulder during todays game, and will go for an MRI. Miami Herald writer Jeff Darlington says the same thing as King.
Source: Dolphins left tackle Jake Long suffered a dislocated shoulder in today’s game and is scheduled to undergo an MRI.
The same source that Darlington cites says it remains possible that Long can play through the injury, but it will be tough.
However, courtesy of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, there is concern that the injury is a dislocation that could require season-ending surgery, according to a source.
Whether or not Long will play against Chicago remains to be seen. With all of these injuries continuing to rack up by the hour, our season could very well be unraveling right before our eyes.
According to Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins will also try out former Denver Broncos quarterback Tom Brandstater.

The Dolphins will likely bring in a couple more quarterbacks for tryouts as they have at least two holes to fill on their depth chart.
