Gridiron Gab Preview Week Seven – Oakland at Denver

The Broncos are the Raiders rival in the AFC West.  They are the team the fans hate the most in the division, and with the history between the owners and the previous head coaches, no game has more ferocity in hatred.  Let’s see how the Raiders can beat the Donkeys…I mean Broncos.

Keep the Run Down

The Broncos are last in the league in running.  Knowshown Moreno returns this week; the Raiders can not let him or their run offense get going.  Attack the gaps when they line him up behind the QB.

Bend but Don’t Break

The Broncos have the 6th overall offense, but their scoring is in the middle of the pack.  While they throw the ball around well, and because their run game has been so bad, they settle for field goals instead of TD’s.  The Raiders are not going to stop their pass attack, but once the Broncos get into the red zone, the Raiders must force field goal kicks.  Even more specifically, they can’t let Mr. America Tim Tebow score.  That’s a scary proposition with the Raiders safeties though…

Score TD’s

Conversely, the Broncos give up as many points as the Raiders on average.  The Raiders need to learn from last week, when they get into the red zone, they need to be creative and get touchdowns and not settle for field goals.

Stay away from Bailey

Wherever he lines up, look to get the ball elsewhere down the field.  It is that simple.

Win the Turnover Game

It cost them last week, and will cost them again this week if they don’t win that battle.  Most specifically, I expect that Kyle Boller is starting this weekend, they are being to coy about their starting QB situation.  He needs to throw the ball, but he needs to make sure it hits the Raiders players not the Broncos players in the chest.

The Raiders always play 1 good game against the Broncos every year, and usually it is in Denver.  That typically, though, is towards the end of the year and always in a last ditch effort to save their coaches job.  The Raiders are 8.5 point underdog and over/under 41.5 points.  I don’t like the match-up this week for the Raiders, they really dropped the ball last week against the 9ers, so things may have not changed at all.

Broncos 27  Raiders 13
