Fast start fades as Eagles get pounded in Tennessee 37-19

After a good looking start to the game, the Eagles dropped the game to the Titans. The Eagles took a 19-10 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Titans ripped off 27 straight points in the final period of play to take the lead and the game.

We talked all week about the importance of shutting down Chris Johnson and the Eagles did just that. They did it very well. However, at the end of the day, Johnson wasn’t even close to being the player that mattered most.

Kenny Britt scored a touchdown for the Titans in the first quarter, but it was his fourth quarter performance that absolutely buried the Eagles. After a David Akers field goal in the fourth quarter, Britt scored an 80 yard touchdown on the ensuing play and continued his dominance throughout the rest of the fourth quarter. After the 80 yard strike to take the lead, Britt struck again on a 16 yard touchdown which really broke the game open.

At the end of the day, turnovers really hurt this team and the letdown by the Eagles secondary was just awful. The Eagles have plenty of time to look over this loss as they will head into the bye week. However, I don’t know if time is going to solve the problems the Eagles have right now.

Note: Andy Reid has said that Michael Vick will start for the Eagles after the bye week.
