Sports Gab Network Columnist Russ Loede’s Week Seven NFL Picks

Will Shipley, “Team Turmoil” wake up and play to its potential in Atlanta?

Week 6 Results ATS: 8-5-1

Season Record ATS: 42-43-4

Week 6 Confidence Meter Points: 69 out of 105

Week Six one-star games: 1-0, 3 for 3.  Two-star games: 0-2, 0 out of 17.  Three-star games: 3-0, 26/26.  Four-star games: 2-2, 15/28.  Five-star games: 2-1-1, 25/31

4-star game, 7 on the confidence meter: Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) @ Miami Dolphins – Can Brandon Marshall will the Dolphins to victory like he did last year with Denver in the game against Dallas?  It has to happen in order for Miami to win this game.  I don’t know if Henne will have enough time to locate Marshall against the Pittsburgh front seven.  Pittsburgh Steelers 20 Miami Dolphins 16

4-star game, 6 on the confidence meter, Upset of the Week: Cincinnati Bengals (+3.5) @ Atlanta Falcons – I’m thinking we say a revived Bengals club coming off of a Bye week.  Cedric Benson can help the team control the clock, a must against Matt Ryan when he’s at home.  I think the talent will finally come into fruition for Marvin Lewis’ troops.  One team on the rise, the other on the decline.  Cincinnati Bengals 27 Atlanta Falcons 23

2-star game, 3 on the confidence meter: Jacksonville Jaguars (+9) @ Kansas City Chiefs – This game is a “trap” bet.  I don’t trust any QB under center for the Jags, and neither should you; which makes me think -take the Jags and the points.  Back door cover re-introduced.  Jacksonville Jaguars 13 Kansas City Chiefs 21

5-star game, 14 on the confidence meter, Lock of the Week: Philadelphia Eagles @ Tennessee Titans (-3) – Titans make known to the world why they are a serious Super Bowl contender.  Defense will give Kolb fits.  Team is playing with more fire and intensity than any other squad.  I can’t wait until Chuck Cecil gets a head coaching job.  Philadelphia Eagles 13 Tennessee Titans 23

4-star game, 5 on the confidence meter: Washington Redskins (+3) @ Chicago Bears – I have a hunch that the Bears will be winning this game up until the final seconds and then Donovan will complete one of his signature comebacks.  Against Seattle the offensive line’s struggles were well-documented for Chicago, but how about its soft secondary?  I really like Ryan Torain.  Washington Redskins 17 Chicago Bears 16

2-star game, 13 on the confidence meter: Cleveland Browns @ New Orleans Saints (-14) –  Saints haven’t won a game in the Superdome this season in which they have scored more than 16 points.  Streaks are meant to be snapped.  Chris Ivory is a keeper.  Cleveland Browns 10 New Orleans Saints 34

1-star game, 10 on the confidence meter: Buffalo Bills @ Baltimore Ravens (-14) – Still trying to find a way for Buffalo to cover.  Too much offense going for the Ravens.  A Super Bowl contender will stamp their case before this one is said, done, and over with.  Buffalo Bills 6 Baltimore Ravens 26

2-star game, 11 on the confidence meter: San Francisco 49ers (-3) @ Carolina Panthers – 49ers have more to lose than the Panthers.  I believe urgency will play its role once again this week for Singletary and Co.  Frank Gore plays a part too.  San Francisco 49ers 24 Carolina Panthers 14

1-star game, 1 on the confidence meter: St. Louis Rams @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) – Josh Freeman vs. Sam Bradford.  Just like this game, I don’t know exactly who will come out on top.  St. Louis Rams 12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16

2-star game, 2 on the confidence meter: Arizona Cardinals (+6.5) @ Seattle Seahawks – Another game I have no clue what’s going to happen.  So I’ll take the points.  Arizona is fresher, has more playmakers, and will gamble more in this one because they are on the road.  Arizona Cardinals 17 Seattle Seahawks 15

4-star game, 9 on the confidence meter: New England Patriots (+3) @ San Diego Chargers – I can’t see the Patriots playing flat against a team that’s so up and down.  Belichick’s feasts off of a mistake-prone Turner team.  New England Patriots 26 San Diego Chargers 21

3-star game, 4 on the confidence meter: Oakland Raiders (+8) @ Denver Broncos – Kyle Orton is starting to reveal his true self.  Oakland will not go two straight weeks without covering.  They are too consistent ATS.  Oakland Raiders 17 Denver Broncos 23

5-star game of the week, 12 on the confidence meter: Minnesota Vikings (+3) @ Green Bay Packers – Why do I still continue to believe the Vikings are a team of destiny.  I’m sticking by my Super Bowl pick.  This is the week the defense plays up to its potential.  Percy will come up big against Green Bay.  Minnesota Vikings 28 Green Bay Packers 24

5-star game, 8 on the confidence meter: New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) – Dallas will not go 1-5.  Eli will make more mistakes than Romo.  Cowboys receivers are dangerous after the catch.  Red zone efficiency will prove to be the deciding factor for the home team.  New York Giants 25 Dallas Cowboys 30
