Packers officially place tight end Jermichael Finley on IR

The season is officially over for Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, as head coach Mike McCarthy announced that he will be placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery last week.

Finley underwent surgery last week, which was expected to keep him out for around 10-12 weeks. The 6-5, 245-pound Finley caught 21 passes for 301 yards and a touchdown in the first four weeks before suffering his season-ending injury in the Packers’ Week 5 loss to the Washington Redskins.

The former third-round pick out of Texas has caught 82 passes for 1,051 yards and 7 touchdowns in his 32-game career. Newly acquired safety Anthony Smith will take Finley’s roster spot.
