Sports Gab Network Columnist Russ Loede’s Week Six NFL Picks

Is there a defensive lineman who’s more dominant than Baltimore’s Ngata?

Week 5 Results ATS: 6-8

Season Record ATS: 34-39-3

Week 5 Confidence Meter Points: 39 out of 105

Week Five zero-star games: 0-1, 0 for 2.  One-star games: 1-1, 9 out of 19.  Two-star games: 1-1, 1/5.  Three-star games: 2-1, 11/24.  Four-star games: 1-1, 7/13.  Five-star games: 1-3, 11/42.

1-star game, 3 on the confidence meter: San Diego Chargers @ St. Louis Rams (+8.5) – San Diego’s defense, special teams leaves much to be desired, hence why I’m taking St. Louis and the points to cover.  I hope Danario Alexander gets significant playing time.  San Diego Chargers 27 St. Louis Rams 20

4-star game, 5 on the confidence meter: Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans (-5) – Chiefs are the better team, playing better at this moment, however, Arian Foster is going to redeem himself after last week’s dismal effort.  Cassel cannot expose the Houston’s biggest weakness -their secondary.  Kansas City Chiefs 17 Houston Texans 24

5- star game, 4 on the confidence meter: Game of the Week – Baltimore Ravens (+3) @ New England Patriots – Haloti will change the way the Patriots play this game.  His performance has been nothing short of remarkable.  Think Anquan wants to make up for his 1-catch, 8-yard game against Denver last week?  Ravens head coach John Harbaugh should receive more praise for the job he has done.  Baltimore Ravens 23 New England Patriots 19

4-star game, 6 on the confidence meter: New Orleans Saints (-5) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – As well as “my” young Bucs have played, I still remember how they played in Raymond James Week 3 against Pittsburgh.  Tampa’s defensive backfield matches up well with Brees, yet I have a feeling the Gregg Williams’ troops will pick up Brees and the offense today.  New Orleans Saints 26 Tampa Bay Buccaneeers 16

5-star games, 2 on the confidence meter: Atlanta Falcons (+3) @ Philadelphia Eagles

Don’t trust Kolb.  Wish Vick could play.  Falcons defense, Tony Gonzalez will be the difference makers in the city of Brotherly Love, cheese steaks, and Rocky.  Atlanta Falcons 21 Philadelphia Eagles 17

3-star game, 1 on the confidence meter: Detroit Lions (+10) @ New York Giants – Giants can’t possibly outdo its last two dominant showings, can they?  Detroit’s defensive line will get to Eli and impact the contest.  Detroit Lions 16 New York Giants 24

2-star game, 10 on the confidence meter: Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears (-6.5) – Seattle’s last 11 games ATS on the road: 1-10.  Bears will be without their stout standout linebacker Lance Briggs.  Matt Forte looks sensational, when he gets the ball, and is featured in the offense.  Seattle Seahawks 13 Chicago Bears 31

4-star game, 8 on the confidence meter: Miami Dolphins @ Green Bay Packers (-3.5) – Aaron Rodgers is under center, going up against a tough Miami pass defense.  It’s going to be a battle, low-scoring defensive afternoon.  Packers can’t lose two in a row.  Dolphins can’t lose three in a row.  Stakes are high for both teams.  Will Bye week, rest, extra time give Sparano’s mafia an extra boost?  What does this all mean in a “wash” game -go with the hosts, the team that has higher expectations for ’10.  Miami Dolphins 10 Green Bay Packers 16

3-star game, 11 on the confidence meter: Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-14.5) – Too easy.  I don’t how Cleveland’s going to defend the deep ball, intimidating Steel Curtain pass rush, and Heinz Field factor.  Cleveland Browns 7 Pittsburgh Steelers 34

4-star game, 9 on the confidence meter: New York Jets (-3.5) @ Denver Broncos – Everyone’s hot, trendy, sexy upset special.  Do they know Denver is one-dimensional?  Jets have too many weapons on offense.  Running game, offensive line looked strong against Minnesota.  I can’t see them losing.  New York Jets 28 Denver Broncos 17

2-star game, 7 on the confidence meter: Oakland Raiders (+7) @ San Francisco 49ers – This is a joke, right?  7 points!?!  Oakland will cover easily against a team that has to yet win a game.  Raiders play the part, 49ers look the part.  Oakland Raiders 17 San Francisco 49ers 20

5-star game, 13 on the confidence meter: Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings (-1.5) – Vikings will get off to a quick start and never look back.  With that said, I’m concerned for whoever has to guard Miles Austin, he’s going to have an outstanding game.  Percy Harvin, will one the former Monmouth star, putting on a display of excellence.  He benefits from Randy Moss the most.  Dallas Cowboys 27 Minnesota Vikings 31

5-star game, 12 on the confidence meter: Indianapolis Colts @ Washington Redskins (+3.5) – Another wild spread.  ‘Skins defense looks really good.  Donovan is playing plays down the field.  Hard to pick against Peyton in prime time.  Indianapolis Colts 23 Washington Redskins 24

3-star game, 14 on the confidence meter: Lock of the Week – Tennessee Titans (-3) @ Jacksonville Jaguars – Chris Johnson, Monday Night Football = 200+ yards, 3 TD’s.  Titans defense is playing like a unit on a mission.  Is Fisher the best coach in the AFC?  Tennessee Titans 30 jacksonville Jaguars 16
