UPDATE: Finley underwent arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus, and apparently, doctors found more significant damage than initially expected.
Finley said via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that YOTTO, his acronym for Year Of The Takeover, will have to wait until next year, indicating he will be put on injured reserve after Tuesday’s surgery revealed more damage than what was suspected.
“Jermichael’s surgery revealed more than we initially thought, so his timeline for recovery is longer than we expected. It was a procedure that Dr. Pat McKenzie did in the best interest of Jermichael’s long-term health, so with that we are looking at all of the options involved there, and IR is definitely an option,” head coach Mike McCarthy said.
The Packers had expected Finley would miss only about 3-6 weeks. But the Journal-Sentinel reported that doctors found that the meniscus had to be fully repaired, which will require more time out of action.
