Are they contenders or pretenders in Atlanta?
Between last week and this week, the Eagles will see completely different teams when it comes down to records. Last week, they played a San Fransisco 49ers team who was 0-4. This week they will play an Atlanta Falcons team who is 4-1. Looking at the records, these seem to be two completely different teams. However, are the Falcons really as good as their record indicates?
The Falcons have lost one game this year, and that was in a Week One to a Steelers team that has played much better then anyone thought they would. Since then, the Falcons haven’t lost a game.
In Week Two, they crushed the Cardinals, and followed that up by taking down the Super Bowl champion Saints in New Orleans. In Week Four, they squeaked out a close win against the 49ers and then beat the Browns 20-10 last week.
So there you have it, the Falcons are 4-1, but just how good are they?
The win against the Saints looks good, but this is a Saints team who just got beat up by the Cardinals and have failed to beat a team by more than five points this season. You’d also like to point out the fact that they were only able to beat the 49ers by two points, but that can’t be said without looking at the Eagles and 49ers game.
The Cardinals blowout is something that catches your attention, but that team definitely has its fair share of issues.
So what can we make of the 4-1 Falcons based on their record? It’s hard to say. This has been a bizarre year in the NFL and it’s very hard to pick out a true Super Bowl favorite at this time.
Come Sunday, the Eagles need to put records behind them and just go out there and play football.
