NFL Gridiron Gab Week Five Preview: San Diego at Oakland

Will Raiders let Nnamdi shadow Gates?

The last time the Oakland Raiders beat the San Diego Chargers was on September 28, 2003.

San Diego offense overall: #1 -against only 1 good defense, K.C.

San Diego defense overall: #2 -against no good offenses.

San Diego has beaten the Raiders 13 times in a row!

How do the Raiders win this game?

Put up points

The offense will need to generate 30 points.  For that to happen, their OL will need to play their best game of the year, because A) SD is tied for 4th in sacks B) Raiders are tied for 4th WORST in giving up sacks.  OL plays their best, the Raiders can score 30 points.

Let Nnamdi blanket Antonio Gates

Gates is the man that kills the Raiders (and the rest of the NFL).  Move your safety into the box so you have 7 or 8 in the box and let Nnamdi cover Gates one on one.  It’s time to try something different, if you let the LB’s or S cover Gates, he will score 2 TD’s and have 100 yards.

Make them kick field goals

Raiders give up too many big plays.  That has been the difference between them being 2-2 or 3-1 to where they are 1-3.  If they just keep their responsibilities, they can force SD kick field goals instead of TD’s, which will give them a shot to win this game.

2010 draft picks, wake up

LaMarr Houston…Rolando McClain…Jacoby Ford…Jared Veldheer… COME ON!!!  It is time to shine now, the AFC West is still there to win, start by winning the games against those opponents.  Get introduced to people you have to hate for the rest of your lives and more importantly, start beating them.

The Raiders are blacked out again, so there will be little homefield advantage to begin with.  Add in the fact the Chargers own the Raiders, this has blow out written all over it.  Chargers will cover the 6, and the score will go over the 45 because the Raiders will score points.  Just not enough…

Prediction: San Diego Chargers 34 Oakland Raiders 24
