The Chargers have had enough of LB Shawne Merriman. Or so it seems. The National Football Post reports that the San Diego Union-Tribune says Merriman is on the trade block, and could be gone by the trade deadline which is on October 19th.
The San Diego Chargers are shopping oft-injured outside linebacker Shawne Merriman, who remains available via a trade over the past year. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Merriman needs to stay healthy and be productive to solidify his roster spot.
Per the report, Merriman could still be traded by the Oct. 19 trading deadline even though nothing is imminent. And the report goes on to say that Merriman isn’t a lock to not be cut before the end of the season.
Off-field controversies and Merriman’s $3.269 million salary are cited as reasons to drop him. Apparently, the Chargers’ patience is at an end.
