Ravens RT Gaither still not cleared to play

“As soon as I get better, I’ll play.”

Those were the words today from right tackle Jared Gaither, who says he has yet to be cleared by his Los Angeles back specialist to return to the field.

Gaither was examined by Dr. Robert Watkins on Monday, and the visit confirmed that he still has a problem with the seventh, eighth and ninth vertebrae in his back.

“I just wanted to see how much pain I could take before I could try to help the team,” Gaither said. “My overall goal is to help the team as much as I can. With that being said, I wanted to see how much pain I could take to see if I could even play with the pain, or see how much progress I made. That’s what that was last week.

The injury to Gaither took place the first week of training camp. Last Wednesday, he practiced in a limited fashion and was unable to go the next day.
