Titans bounce back with 29-10 win over Giants

A week after the Titans looked like a team that couldn’t get out of their own way in a 19-11 loss to the Steelers, Sunday against the Giants they got back on track with a nice 29-10 win over Eli Manning and New York.

Chris Johnson ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns, getting back on track after being held to 34 yards last week. QB Vince Young threw a touchdown and threw for 118 yards and more importantly didn’t make the game-changing mistakes like last week.

The Titans defense was the story, as they forced three turnovers getting to Manning for two sacks and two interceptions.

The victory was the 10th straight against an NFC opponent for the Titans (2-1) and their fifth straight over the Giants (1-2), who have now lost two in a row.

The Giants missed two field goals; had two drives inside the Titans 6-yard line end in turnovers; gave Tennessee a safety with a chop block in the end zone; and committed five personal fouls, including two by offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie that led to him being pulled from the game.

The Titans led 10-0, and after the Giants tied the game on an Ahmad Bradshaw TD right before the half, they got a safety five minutes into the third quarter to go up 12-10, and then a Young to Kenny Britt TD made it 19-10 with 7:43 left in the third quarter.

They scored 10 more fourth quarter points with a Rob Bironas 22-yard field goal and a Johnson 8-yard run to put the game away.

The Giants had 471 yards of offense to 271 for the Titans, but they made too many mistakes and the Titans were able to take advantage of the Giants errors.

Manning was 34-for-48 for 386 and was picked twice. The Titans outgained the G-Men on the ground 161 to 107.

Now at 2-1 on the year, the Titans will be at home for Kyle Orton and the Broncos next Sunday.
