What I Know, What I Don’t Know

AFC East:

New England Patriots: What I Know- Rookie tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez will contribute significantly to NFL’s #1 aerial show, especially during 3rd down and inside red zone.  What I Don’t Know- If Tom Brady and Randy Moss will put on display like they did in 2007.  They are more than capable of breaking their own records, but will they?

Miami Dolphins: What I Know- Corner backs Sean Smith and Vontae Davis will both make the Pro Bowl.  Household names to common NFL fan by season’s end.  What I Don’t Know- Whether or not Brandon Marshall feasts on Darrelle Revis and his island in jump ball situations?  A sure six?  Keep in mind, Marshall has plans for the NBA…Miami Heat scouts come be in attendance…

New York Jets: What I Know- Shonn Greene will make Ron Dayne’s name once again relevant.  Former Iowa Hawkeye will remind many of the former Heisman Trophy winner from Wisconsin.  He will not rush for over 1,000 yards.  What I Don’t Know- If Vernon Gholston will play up to potential, draft status (2008’s 6th overall), and physique?  Will his body of work match up with his body?  Bart Scott and Kris Jenkins talking trash?  Let’s see some production first.

Buffalo Bills: What I Know- C.J. Spiller will make games worth attending Ralph Wilson Stadium.  Fans will come excited more than ever since, “you know when”…  What I Don’t Know- Will Spiller’s speed and play making ability be enough to compensate for a lack of throwing game?  Fans outside of Buffalo, will they be interested to sneak a peek at the Bills during commercial’s and halftime of their favorite teams because of Spiller?

NFC East:

Dallas Cowboys: What I Know- Miles Austin is the real deal.  He’s no fluke.  Felix Jones will be the featured, go-to back for America’s Team barring any injury.  What I Don’t Know- Patrick Crayton trade, a bad decision?  He may be missed.  Marion Barber, being overthrown by Tashard Choice as #2 back?  Choice will push for more playing time, but how much more?

New York Giants: What I Know- Hakeem Nicks is easily the #1 target for Eli.  Weapons for Archie’s boy and Peyton’s brother are dynamic as they’ve ever been, nonetheless, Eli is not an elite QB.  No room to hide, no excuses, blame no one else but your self -it’s either now or never for the “real Eli” to step up.  I know he’s too inconsistent for top ten honors.  Other than the star-studded squad in Big D, Eli not taking it to next level, elite QB status will be the main reason why Giants don’t win NFC East, not their lack of LB’s.

What I Don’t Know- Keith Bulluck playing like an All-Pro in Tennessee?  Is there another defensive backfield and front four more talented?  However, is the front four going to make Giants fans reminisce to the one that attacked Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLII?   Ahmad Bradshaw, a difference maker, yet, enough to make Giants fans forget about last season’s running woes?  Will the line and ground game return to past form?

Washington Redskins: What I Know- 3-4 defense, with or without Haynesworth will be a success.  Devin Thomas, one of the final players to make the 53-man roster, will have a season to remember along with Fred Davis, dispelling the truth that Donovan McNabb doesn’t have enough prime targets to distribute the rock around.

What I Don’t Know- Will they reason with San Diego on a high draft pick(s) to bring over disgruntled All-Pro WR Vincent Jackson.  Is LaRon Landry worth holding out hope for?  Can he become a consistent force on Sundays like he was on Saturdays in the Bayou for the Tigers of Louisiana State?  Is it too late for one of Death Valley’s finest to show us he still has it?

Philadelphia Eagles: What I Know- Defensive rookies Brandon Graham and Nate Allen, along with off-season acquisitions Darryl Tapp and Ernie Sims will supply enough firepower to make Sean McDermott’s defense a formidable unit.  His troops will recapture some of the luster of the late great Jim Johnson’s 11-man assemblies.

What I Don’t Know- Will Kevin Kolb provide enough evidence on the field to make Philly forget about Donovan McNabb like Green Bay forgot about Brett Favre with Aaron Rodgers?  Is Kolb the next Rodgers or Schaub?  Will the Eagles win more than one game within the division?  Will LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick be utilized properly?
