Something that worried me heading into the offseason was a possible contract hold out by DeSean Jackson. When he hired Drew Rosenhaus last year, it almost seemed like a holdout would be inevitable.
This isn’t to say that DeSean doesn’t deserve to get paid more money, he definitely does. However, I was worried that DeSean might put himself in a situation that would cause him to miss time at Training Camp.
Despite being clearly underpaid, Jackson is doing all the right things this offseason. He has stayed away from the media and said that he will talk to them as the season gets closer. This is a good idea for Jackson because you know reports will be grilling him about his contract and whether or not the Eagles are doing anything to get him more money.
Jackson reported on time and has been silent about any contract talks. I think this really shows us something. The guy is focused on winning and has done everything in his power to put himself on the right path.
Jackson was one of the players that spoke out about the “young guns” and his excitement with the new face of the franchise. To me, it seems that Jackson understands just how good this team can be and knows that his play will have a large part to do with it.
Whether or not the Eagles are working with Rosenhuas behind closed doors, I am extremely happy with the way Jackson has handled himself this offseason. He is letting his agent focus on his contract, while he is focusing on football.
I love the attitude Jackson has show this Training Camp, and I think it’s going to pay off in more ways than one.
