Report Says Bills to Release Veteran LB Aaron Schobel

The Bills have been waiting on a decision if Aaron Schobel is going to play in 2010 or not. It sounds like the Bills have already made the decision for him.

A person familiar with the Bills plans has told The AP that the team intends to release the veteran linebacker today.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the Bills have not made an announcement.

The move would come two days after general manager Buddy Nix said the Bills are moving on without their leading pass-rusher, who has spent the entire offseason contemplating retirement.

A nine-year NFL veteran, Schobel hasn’t entirely ruled out playing one more season. Once released, he would become a free agent.

ESPN first reported the team’s plan to release Schobel on Wednesday morning.
