Some Quick Hits on Reported Farve Retirement Via Twitter

Keeping up-to-date on the breaking news of Brett Favre reportedly retiring, we turn to what those in the media who is covering the story is saying on the ever-present landscape of Twitter.

From the Twitter of SeahawksGab Editor Devon Heinen, who first broke the story for NFLGridironGab:

From the Twitter of the Minneapolis Star Tribune‘s Judd Zulgad, who originally broke the news:

  • Favre is expected to issue a press release later today. Keep in mind this is Brett Favre and it is Aug. 3.
  • I’m told Favre has said his ankle has simply not responded and that is why he won’t be back.
  • There is a chance ownership will go back to Favre with an offer of more than the 13 million for this season.
  • Yes, the Vikings are still practicing. Not clear if press release will be from Favre or Vikings.
  • Keep in mind I’m hearing Vikings still feel the situation is fluid. As I said before still time to talk him out of it.
  • I’m told this Favre story has crashed the Star Tribune website. Hopefully it comes back soon.

From the Twitter of the NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora:

  • For me, personally, I will believe Brett Favre is retired when he files retirement papers. Until then, no door is truly closed
  • If/when we’re deep into the season and Favre is in Mississippi and not Minnesota, then I’m fully convinced. Otherwise, I have to wonder…
  • If he pulls a Roger Clemens at some point and still doesn’t QB them, eventually.

From the Twitter of ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

  • Had Favre retired after season, Minnesota’s quarterback this season could have been Donovan McNabb, Jason Campbell or Marc Bulger.

From the Twitter of ESPN’s Mark Schlereth:

  • Favre really done or is he the boy who cried wolf? I think he done this time for real!
