You know, the more I see from the Arizona Cardinals’ players – the more I like them…. both on and off the field. Today, I just read this little blurb over at PFT and it speaks right to the truth of the matter:
Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, who has been trying to get a big-money deal, ripped Haynesworth on Twitter after hearing that he wants out of Washington only a year after signing a seven-year, $100 million deal (which as a practical matter has a value of $48 million over four).
“That’s why I tell y’all I’m nothing like these dudes, for a 100 million my ass will play 4-3, 3-4, 5-9, 4-8, and still whip ass!” Dockett declared.
Dockett later posted a link to Mike Sando’s blurb acknowledging Dockett’s anger, declaring “I swore to tell nothing but the truth!”
As Sando also points out, the $21 million balloon payment Haynesworth received from the Redskins in April exceeds Dockett’s entire compensation from 2006 through 2010.
We hope more guys continue to tell the truth regarding Haynesworth, including a few of them who play for the Redskins.
In this cynical world of professional football – even when it boils down to just the money you’re expected to at the very least keep up with your obligations to the team. That was the story all along this spring, right? OTAs are optional, and Mr. Haynesworth plans to rejoin the team only for mandatory activities this offseason.
On second thought, let’s scratch that as of last night, because Albert Haynesworth and his agent seems to think he’s above it all. He’s above his team, the fans, ethics…. and he certainly seems to think he’s above the front office on this one. ONE DAY before mandatory camp his agent releases the pull out statement. Not even one day, it was about 12 hours when we got word. That’s just pathetic. It’s sad even for a cynic.
Do you think the Cards will trade Dockett for Big Al, straight up? The guy has the absolute right attitude on the matter:
“…my ass will play 4-3, 3-4, 5-9, 4-8, and still whip ass!”
Dare to dream…
