How the Experts Shape Up the Ravens

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. We at Ravens Gab hope that all our fans take time over this weekend to honor those that have served our country.

Where are the Ravens ranked in the NFL Power Rankings?  Most analysts have the team positioned in the top eight, some as high as third on the list.  Listed are recent rankings and analysis from around the web.

Tell us, Where do you think the Ravens should be ranked?

Peter King, Sports Illustrated

Peter King ranks the Ravens 3rd!

1. Green Bay

2. San Diego

3. Baltimore

“I think the Ravens have hit a few home runs this offseason, and those moves could carry them to the AFC Championship Game….On defense, I wish I saw something better at cornerback….Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison obviously has to be hoping for it to be third- and-long so often (with a great run-stuffing front) that he doesn’t have to worry about the more than occasional coverage error downfield.”

Pat Kirwin,

Kirwin has a tier system, as teams 1-6 will be a “lock” to make the playoffs. Tier 1 includes Indianapolis, Saints, Minnesota, Dallas, San Diego, and Green Bay. Tier 2 are teams who “should” make the playoffs. The Ravens are listed as a second Tier team, 8th on the list.

Tier 2

7. New York Jets

8. Baltimore Ravens

9. New York Giants

10. New England Patriots

11.San Francisco 49ers

“The Ravens finally got Joe Flacco some receiver help and he is ready to get the ball to Anquan Boldin and Donte’ Stallworth when teams overplay Ray Rice and the run game. I still wonder about Baltimore’s cornerbacks and the pass defense.”

Ranks the Ravens 7th.

1. New Orleans Saints

2. Indianapolis

3. Minnesota Vikings

4. San Diego Chargers

5. Dallas Cowboys

6. Green Bay Packers

7. Baltimore Ravens

Fox Sports

Ranks the Ravens in the 7th spot.

“OFFSEASON DIAGNOSIS: It was another solid playoff run for Baltimore, but I don’t think Ray Lewis is satisfied with an Elite Eight appearance in the NFL playoffs. With future Hall of Famer Ed Reed considering retirement due to lingering neck issues, the window for the dominant defense may be closing.”

CBS Sports

On May 11th, Pete Prisco of CBS sports ranked the Ravens in the 11th spot.  In this ranking they fall behind the Eagles?

“They’ve had a nice offseason, adding some key pieces like receiver Anquan Boldin. That should help the passing game. That will put more on Joe Flacco’s plate.”

Has the Ravens ranked 3rd!

2-New Orleans Saints

3. Baltimore Ravens

4-NY Jets

5-Dallas Cowboys

6-Minnesota Vikings

Walter Football is impressed with the Ravens ranking them 4th.

“Joe Flacco goes from having Derrick Mason …to Mason, Anquan Boldin, Donte’ Stallworth, Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. Oh, and let’s not forget that Ray Rice is coming out of the backfield…”
