Stan Kroenke met with the members of the owner’s finance committee this week before the NFL owner’s meetings and everyone is coming out of the meeting all high fives and butt slaps. From Pro Football Talk via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
The Post-Dispatch reports that another owner told Rams officials after the finance committee meeting, “Your guy did well in there.”
“Everybody wants him as an owner, I can tell you,” Benson said, per Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
And the word out of the meeting was that Stan Kroenke is offering a grace period in which he can settle his cross-ownership problems with the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalance of the NBA and NHL respectively. His grace period will be more than Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga received as he waited out the NFL’s previous cross ownership rules. It took the NFL three years to certify that ownership.
It may take more than that for Kroenke to make it through his certification period, but during that time, Kroenke will still be the owner of the Rams and they will still be spending his money on draft picks and free agents.
As it seemed when Kroenke put in his 100% bid for the Rams, he had a plan and it still looks like he will be the next owner of the St. Louis Rams.
