Giants Monday thoughts and musings

Here they are, Monday Thoughts and Musings, brought to you by the salad with a little bit of tuna I’m eating. It’s quite good. Although I ran out of dressing, so now it’s just lettuce. I’m not a good dressing distributor. But, I digress

-I’m glad that at least a little football is starting. OTA’s don’t really give you much, but it’s something. We’re in that post-draft lull right now, and we’re starving for anything football. OTA’s are a good start

-I’m hoping that Mario Manningham can make the jump to the next level. He has all the talent. He’s just now always there mentally. He’ll drop balls, go out of bounds. If he can get his head in the right place on game day, the Giants offense will be that much better.

-Provided he stays healthy, Justin Tuck will have 10+ sacks this year. His shoulder is fine, he won’t have to face Flozell Adams and I think the supporting cast around him is better, meaning Tuck won’t be double teamed.

-It’s been a while since the McNabb trade, and I still don’t get it from the perspective of the Eagles. Maybe Kevin Kolb is the real deal. But McNabb still has life in him. It’s a huge risk, especially because Kolb is so unknown.

-Baseball interlude: Went to Citi Field for the first time on Saturday. Sadly, my Yanks lost. But, the Stadium was interesting. It reminded me of Houston’s Minute Maid Park. Almost identical. Sightlines, for the most part, were good. There was this place in center field called “Taste of the City”, which had Blue Smoke and Shake Shack. The lines were ridiculous. I didn’t even wait on line. There was also an international food stand, where they had sushi, Chinese food, Korean Food. I love sushi, but I can’t eat it at a baseball game. It’s just weird. This new emphasis on gourmet food at stadiums just feels wrong. I want a hot dog, not barbecue ribs.  More and more, baseball games are becoming less about baseball, and more about the Stadium. I will say that the Mets museum was pretty cool. And I’m not even a Mets fan. For the record, the best stadium I’ve been to is Miller Park in Milwaukee.

-I have a strange feeling that we’ll be hearing a lot of “Romo back to throw, finds Bryant deep down the field.” Dez is going to be a star. Romo is going to benefit from it.

-Jon Goff will be the starting middle linebacker Week 1. Will he stay there the whole year? That remains to be seen. But the Giants are giving Goff every chance to be the starter. I think he’ll capitalize. He’s really smart and instinctive. Has the physical tools. Just has to put it all together.

-Seriously, can the Giants stay healthy this year? Is it really too much to ask? Is it?

-Travel interlude: I’m debating, if the Flyers get to the Stanley Cup, buying a ticket and seeing a game in Philly. It’s going to be expensive. But, I think the atmosphere will be worth it. Have never seen a Stanley Cup game. It’s on my bucket list. What do you think?

-The Kevin Boss injury, while it won’t cost him playing time, will probably benefit from Travis Beckum. He’ll get the reps. He reminds me a lot of Chris Cooley/Dustin Keller. Field stretcher.

-If Domenik Hixon can stay healthy, can he be the number one receiver we all thought? Were we wrong to think that in the first place?

-It’s looking more and more like the Giants and Jets will host the 2014 Super Bowl. It will be crazy in the city, but it’s about time we got a Super Bowl. Biggest city in the world. And who cares about the weather? Football was meant to be played in the cold. If it snows, it will be amazing.

-I’m thinking that Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith will have 1,000 yards+ receiving next year. That would be awesome

-Food interlude: I’m looking for a better breakfast. I usually grab a bagel as I run out the door, but I’m sick of it. I need something quick, easy and healthy. Thoughts?

I think the idea of going to a stanely cup game is a great idea. Ive been to 3 of them and they are very cool. Going to it in Philly is not a great idea. Flyers fans are the biggest pieces of trash in all of sports.
