Former NFL and Georgia Tech LB Nick Rogers dies in car accident

Condolences go out today to the family of former NFL and Georgia Tech linebacker Nick Rogers, who died in a car accident early Monday after his car hit a power pole in the Atlanta region.

Rogers was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth-round where he played four seasons, and then played with the Packers, Colts and Dolphins. He had 34 tackles and two sacks as a rookie.

His career concluded with the Colorado Crush in the Arena Football League. For his NFL career, Rogers had 80 tackles, two sacks and four forced fumbles.

“He was an upbeat guy who never let anything really bother him,” former Georgia Tech teammate Sean Gregory said. “He never actually realized how great of a football player he was. He just had a zest for life that was amazing. He brought us so much laughter, got us through the hard days and the two-a-day grind of football.”
