Sounds like the year is over before it even got started for WR Limas Sweed, who according to Mike Tomlin may have torn his Achilles tendon. Here’s the story from the National Football Post:
Hard-luck Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Limas Sweed has experienced another setback in his professional career. Sweed has suffered a “serious” Achilles tendon injury, according to coach Mike Tomlin.
As the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette notes, if Sweed has ruptured the tendon, he won’t be playing football this year. Drafted in the second round out of the University of Texas two years ago, Sweed was placed on injured reserve last season due to emotional issues.
First it was the dropped passes, then the “non-football” related issue that sat him down towards the end of the season, and now this. Bottom line, Sweed could be done for 2010, and who really knows after that.
